My team and I make films for a range of purposes, the main ones being:

• Patient education and support
• Internal and external pharmaceutical communications
• Qualitative pharmaceutical research
• Physician training
• Event filming

Often we make these films in partnership with medical communications agencies. In such cases our videos usually form part of a wider set of deliverables that the agency is developing for their end client. However, we work directly for such end clients too. For example, my team and I recently produced a patient support DVD for the NHS and we handled the process, from preproduction to mass delivery of the DVDs, ourselves.

I love approaching projects inventively, and my team do too. A lot of our work features talking head style interviews – they’re effective and have an important role to play – but alongside these we often use video diaries, photo and artistic diaries, and immersive, ethnographic footage. In past projects we’ve also used bespoke techniques like stop-motion animation and have devised project-specific, wearable point-of-view cameras to help us better communicate patient experiences.
